Long before reforestation became a public conversation, we were planting trees. Since 1957, tree planting has been a core part of how we manage the forest, helping ensure harvested areas are reforested and renewed for future generations.
Our seedlings come from our tree nurseries in Juniper and Sussex, grown from the best seeds collected at the Parkindale Seed Orchard and the best tree families identified through our innovative tree breeding programs.
It’s a connected team effort to grow the best adapted trees for our local forests, our soil, and our climate.

- Our teams have planted more than 1.1 billion trees since 1957
- Up to 35 million seedlings planted annually across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Maine
- In 2026, we hit a milestone in Maine: our 100th million tree planted
- A typical tree planter plants about 2,000 trees per day or more
- Planters use a specialized tree-planting tool called a ‘Pottiputki’
Tree planting is hard work that requires endurance and determination. Every summer, crews work across our region, carefully planting millions of seedlings by hand. But it’s rewarding work.
Those tiny trees will grow into the forests that support wildlife, capture carbon, provide wood products, and create jobs for generations to come.
